RPCC’s Kim Dudley LASFAA Woman of Year
SORRENTO, La. – Kim Dudley, River Parishes Community
College’s Director of Student Financial Aid, was recently named
“Woman of the Year” by the Louisiana Association of Student
Financial Aid Administrators (LASFAA.) The award was presented by LASFAA
President Alvina Thomas at a special ceremony on October 26, as part
of the organization’s fall 2006 annual conference in Lake Charles.
“I want to congratulate Kim on this award. This award is one of
the highest awarded by the LASFAA,” said Chancellor Joe Ben Welch.
“She works hard as our Director of Financial Aid, and many of
our students have her to thank for their college education. Kim is one
of the outstanding individuals here at RPCC that helps to make this
college the fine institution it has become.”
Since January 2006, River Parishes Community College
has awarded $379,431 in scholarships and waivers to students. The school
has also distributed $797,972 in federal Pell Grants and $1,313,658
in student loans.
Dudley said, “I am extremely grateful to RPCC and Chancellor Welch
for giving me the opportunity to work at this school and to help students
find ways to pay for their education. I am grateful to LASFAA for the
award, but most of all for the support of higher education in our community.
I love what I do, and there’s no better feeling than when a student
realizes he or she will be able to afford college.”
The Louisiana Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators is
an organization dedicated to serving students, parents, institutions,
and agencies with the dissemination of information related to the distribution
of financial aid. The organization has over 500 members and it exists
to help students pursue and attain their educational goals.
Dudley also served on the 2005 – 2006 LASFAA Board of Directors,
as the Executive-Secretary.
River Parishes Community College is a two-year learning institution,
fully-accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools
